Last year I spent a lot of time working on digitising old film images. I love doing this work as I have explained many times in my blog posts. But arguably I became a little too obsessed with this film work at the expense of my own photography. One downside is too much time sitting at the computer and not enough time out and about.
By the end of January I had only added 19 new images of my own and realising that my total for 2024 was only 2300 new images I felt that it had to make an effort to change tack.
I have already written a blog post about my visit to Liverpool. Prior to that trip I had been to Lincoln, Grimsby and a brief stop at Peterborough on the way home. Coming back from Liverpool I called in on Milton Keynes – the great thing here is that an open return train ticket allows for the journey to be broken ( even for longer spells if desired).
I’ve also been to Bristol ( 3 times) and Bath, London ( 3 times), Sudbury in Suffolk, Teignmouth and Dawlish, Wiltshire including Avebury and Salisbury, and returned from a trip to Portugal in April with almost 1000 new images.
In summary, at the halfway point in 2025 I have added over 3900 new images to my stock portfolio.
Image sales take time but a pleasing trickle of sales from these new images has started.
To illustrate the reality of stock photography – after all my effort to do ‘proper photography’ this is the first one from Lincoln to find a buyer. I struggled with this in Photoshop trying to make it go straight but it really is on a steep hill. Straightening the brick layers exaggerated the slope too much so I let it go as is….and this was the first to sell so who knows!?

Should you be interested to browse through these 2025 images I have added the search term ‘Year 2025’ to them, and placed a fairly random selection on my home page for easy viewing.
I am now back spending more time at home and enjoying trips to the beach at Shingle Street. I hope to write more frequent blog posts. If you would like to subscribe please add your email.
Time for a swim.
