Alamy Sales – October 2026

Young woman pushing a pushchair along pavement, Barronstrand Street view to Clock Tower, Waterford, Ireland 1968

The image above licensed this month very soon after I had copied it from the original slide. I really like this snapshot of a street in Waterford, Ireland of 1968 with the young woman walking with her friend and push-chair/stroller. I like the busy street and happy looking people, the vintage signs, the classic cars, and the view to the historic landmark.

I had 41 licences from Alamy this month, one of which was a Public Domain image of a very famous painting – it went for a good fee too! The remaining 40 images are in the slide show below in no particular order. Six were of old slide scans like the one above, fifteen were taken in 2025 or 2026.

The mood at the Alamy forum has been grim for the past few months since the iniquitous contract change, and for me particularly since I became aware of their accounts for 2025 – no wonder Alamy is short of money having given £28 million in retained profit to its parent company PA Media/ the Press Association. The main shareholders of the Press Association are the same large UK newspaper groups which seem to enjoy preferential sweetheart low fees for their Alamy images.

Alamy is a sad shadow of the ‘photographer friendly’ company I joined 24 years ago. I will say no more, but if there was another obvious option I would be happy to walk away from Alamy. And after so many years of commitment and positivity that hits in the gut.

Thanks for visiting, feel free to add a comment – perhaps about Alamy if you like – and if you haven’t done so yet why not subscribe?

  1. I am at aloss to understand why I do not make the same sort of sales as you do despite the fact that I have approx 10000 images on the site. I have a wide variety of different images. As far as Alamy is concerned it is very disappointing that the company that continued to offer real remuneration to its photographers is now reneging on this. Given that Getty is facing bankrupty I suppose we should not be too surprised.

    1. Thanks for your comment Kevin. I don’t think that I do particularly well compared with many others. Bear in mind that I have ten times more images on Alamy than you – just over 100k. Yes, it is incredibly sad that Alamy has become what it is today.

  2. Great images as uisual and thanks for sharing. Though Alamy prices are declining, I am not aware of any agency matching their commission fees. It really is a hamster wheel.
